Bethany and I decided to spend a blazing hot Saturday outside seeing the sights of Vientiane. (I hope you sense mixed feelings.) I did want to see all of these great sights, but did not want to die from heat exhaustion.
This is the That Dam. It is considered that inside lives a mighty Nagas - a mythical dragon, the defender of the capital.
Ho Phrakeo was destroyed by Siamese aggressors in 1828 and was restored in 1936 as a museum of religious art. The building is surrounded with a gallery of bronze statues of Buddha in various poses.
