Today was a laborious day. Not that it wasn’t interesting but it just seemed long. Our class covered how to teach speaking and listening. But 6 hours of any class can become an overload of information. Speaking of overload, Bethany and I have been reading for homework since the minute we stepped out of class this afternoon.
After a long day of learning education, I was happy for Bethany and I to have a long over due romantic dinner. We ordered Indian food and had it delivered to the hotel. We put on Jack Johnson on iTunes and had a quiet dinner in our room.
After our food came, I needed to get some bowls and utensils. I went up to the 6th floor where the hotel restaurant is located and asked a gentleman for the items I needed. He spoke broken English but we communicated the necessities none the less. After I got back to the room, I realized that I had forgotten spoons. So I hurried back up to the 6th floor and asked the same young man for a couple of spoons, said thank you, and started out the door. As I was walking away, I noticed he was studying. I asked if he was studying English and he was. So I began a short conversation about his studies, asked him his name, and gave him mine. He seemed to really enjoy the conversation and appreciative that I would take interest in him. And I did enjoy the conversation and I was interested.
It was nice to finally connect with someone from Vietnam. And I don’t think it was a coincidence that I forgot the spoons, which makes me really excited to look for good opportunities to share with others the joy I have in my heart.
Sounds like it wasn't an accident that you forgot the spoons :) Here's to more Arranged appointments!
