What's for Dinner?

I'm sure that all of our friends in the States are waking up this morning wondering what the Coopers had for dinner tonight. (I don't really think that, but I'm running out of interesting blog topics.) Well, we’re packing to go to Pakse for the weekend. Pakse is about 10-12 hours south of Vientiane, where we are now studying language. We’ll be taking a night bus equipped with beds at 8:30 p.m. And arrive between 7:00-9:30 a.m.

We’re going to look for a house which is kind of exciting. And I hope to have pictures for you when we get back, at least of the town where we’ll be living, if not a house(s).

All that to say we needed a quick bite to eat this evening. Lucky for us we currently live right next to the night market. It’s a dirt lot filled with vendors serving everything from grilled chicken and fish to sticky rice, fried bananas, and papaya salad. We went for grilled chicken, sticky rice, and spring rolls complete with two dipping sauces. All this for a little over $2. We brought it back to the room at our guest house, and voila, you have a cozy dinner for two.
